IN MEMORIAM: ROBERT BRUCE ZANN, MD
On October 8, 2016, Orthopaedic Surgery Associates (“OSA”) and the South Florida medical community lost an icon. Dr. Robert Zann passed away at the age of 67. While he was an excellent orthopaedic surgeon who served the people of Palm Beach County for over 35 years, Dr. Zann was also a friend and confidant to his co-workers, colleagues, family and patients. He will forever be in our hearts
Dr. Zann is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and his two sons, Christopher and Lawren.
Dr. Zann was a varsity swimmer at the University of Michigan from 1968 – 1971 and graduated from Wayne State Medical School in 1975. Dr. Zann completed his general residency training at New York Medical College in 1977, his orthopaedic residency training at New York Medical College in 1980, and his orthopaedic surgery fellowship training at the University of Southern California in 1981. Dr. Zann, along with his partner John Van Houten, MD, founded Orthopaedic Surgery Associates, Inc. over 35 years ago and played a big part in cementing OSA as a center of excellence. Dr. Zann was also the medical director of the Orthopaedic Institute at Bethesda Hospital. When he wasn’t practicing the art of surgery that he had mastered throughout his career or teaching fellow colleagues throughout the world about the skills he had developed, he was an avid traveler and fisherman. Dr. Zann is now gone, but he will never be not forgotten by his OSA family or his thousands of patients that he treated for over 35 years.
